Headings

Headings help organize ideas and should be used for longer papers.

Level One
Center and bold. Each word begins with a capital letter- go to next line

Level Two
Left justified and bold.  Each word begins with a capital letter- go to next line

Level three. Left justified- then indent and bold with a period.  Only the first word is capitalized. Content begins on this line.

Level four. Left justified- then indent, bold and italicize with a period.  Only the first word is capitalized. Content begins on this line.

Level five. Left justified- then indent and italicize with a period.  Only the first word is capitalized. Content begins on this line.

  1. can you give examples of where these headers should be in a APA formated paper?

  2. The above post actually shows where these headers should be. For example, level one is bold and centered in the example. Furthermore, it states underneath the heading the format that level heading should have. If you need further clarification please let me know.

  3. I have no idea what these levels mean. Would these different levels be like the start of a new chapter in a book/page in the paper? What I understand is that these headings are used to give the reader a sample of what to look forward to in the paper. Is that correct? If so should each page be considered the levels and can the same level be repeated if the paragraphs run over to the next page. Thanks for the help.

    1. The headers are like when you try to explain somethingin few paragraphs that has multiple points then each point is a header and then some of these points also have explanation in multiple points which consider level two for example
      Earth (level one, bold)
Its round and is the third planet from the sun consists of 7 continents:
      North America: (level two, bold)
Located between the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean north of the equator and consist of three countries
Canada.(level three, indent, bold)Largest country on earth
Ontario. (Level four, indent, bolt, italic) Eastern province.
      Toronto. (Level five,indent, just italic)
      Windsor. (Level five,indent, just italic)
Montreal. (Level four, indent, bold, italic)western province...
      USA. (Level three,indent, bold)
      Mexico. (Level three, indent, bold)
      South America: (Level two, bold)
      Africa: (Level two)
