Format for Citations

When there is one author your citations should look like this.
Mary was a little girl who lived in England a long time ago (Goose, 2012).

When there are two authors your citations should look like this.
Mary’s favorite animal was the lamb (Mother & Goose, 2012).

If it is a quote you are citing and the quote is less than 40 words your citation should follow this format with page number or paragraph (if from a website).
“Mary had a little lamb” (Goose, 2012, para. 1).

If the quote is more than 40 words it should be formatted  in a block format with each line indented five spaces from the left.  It needs to include the author(s) last name, publication year, and page number or paragraph number or the quote  It should look like this.
According to Goose (2012):
Mary had a little lamb, little lamb, little lamb,
Mary had a little lamb whose fleece was white as snow.
Everywhere that Mary went, Mary went, Mary went,
Everywhere that Mary went the lamb was sure to go.
She followed her to school one day, school one day, school one day,
She followed her to school one day and that was against the rules. (p. 4)

Though this post has some basic formats you should be familiar with and may refer to, I strongly advise you to read the APA manual and get familiar with all that is necessary to have a properly APA formatted paper.
